science in maine (a poem)

Great Stone Face | ignorance | knowledge | Maine | O Ceallaigh's Observations | Poetry | science

science in maine

a ledge at seaside
an empire rising
proof to unseen waters

at the margin of sight
scattered trees mark the crest
fractals at this distance
roots invisible in rock
but echoes of their probings
etched on the cliff face

from the mountains a rumor
deep in the forest
the stone face has fallen

I agree. It is very good.

I agree. It is very good. It has the same type evocativeness that Seamus Heaney uses in his poetry. (And I will tell you now that I have my own special reasons for treasuring Heaney, so I don't often use that comparison, but when I do, I mean it.)

But if you want to be like them, you'll have to emulate. -Ayria
