Sata Hardrive Problems

I have been using Sata hard drives for about the last 3 years and at first I was very impressed the whole speed of my PC improved. I first used them as one as in them days I used to do a lot of gaming so wanted the speed, but as I started using my PC for business I decided to go for safety so set it up as a mirror great I thought one always makes a mirror image of the other.
All was fine for 18 months then disaster they failed both on the same day with in a few hours lost everything, I have since had 2 more fail on me and today a 5th that’s 5 hard drives in 3years not good.
When I was living in England I did get 18 months out of them but now I am in The Philippines they just don’t last at all, maybe it’s the electric here it is up and down all the time I sit here many times and the lights dim and the fan slows what the hell good is that doing my PC or anyone’s in this country and then of cause anyone that has been here are the constant power cuts.
So Meralco that’s the power company here sort things out you are another company that is helping keep this country in poverty who is going to invest here when they can’t rely on a good power supply.
I would love to hear comments from other people that use sata is it they just don’t last or do you also live where there is a bad power supply and it is doing yours in as well.
