Russian Roulette: Russian-American Dating and Marriage Blog

Russian-American relationship and marriage has often been referred to as the Russian Roulette, and for a good reason: both American men and Russian women are risking a lot when they play this game. We all have heard some disaster stories: men getting scammed out of money, nasty divorces (filed shortly after the arrival of the green card), false domestic violence charges, etc., etc. On the women’s side, just think of Anastasia King murdered by her old ugly fat husband (while in the process of searching for yet another mail order bride in the former Soviet Union). Side note: I don’t justify Anastasia’s decision to marry the guy. She is the victim, yes, and I feel sorry for her, but she did have a pair of eyes. She should have known better than to sell out like that.

With all that said, playing the Russian Roulette can be successful. Some American men and Russian women do find happiness together and have good families. From what I have seen, it is more of an exception than the rule, but such families do exist. My own family is one such example – which brings us to my “credentials” for starting this blog: I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, I married an American man, and we have had a happy family for 7 years. While I have never darkened the door of a dating agency, I happen to know quite a lot about them (and their games) from others. I also have some knowledge of scams, relationship and marriage issues, problems like language barrier, culture shock, etc.etc. All this, and more, I intend to be addressing in this blog.
