Just because I enjoy reading romance novels, does that mean I should write them?
Every book I read on the subject of writing basically screams at me to write only what I enjoy reading, otherwise it's a lost cause because my own work won't capture my attention, and then lose the attention of the reader. The big problem with this is that I don't seem to be a very good romance writer, and it takes months to finish a project.
The other problem is that no one else has critiqued my work. I have the rough draft of my novel posted up on fictionpress.com, and even though the feedback is good it worries me that no one has anything they think should be changed, no grammar errors they noticed.
Strange how I used to hate getting comments like that and now I pine for them, but there you have it.
Of the four novels (unpublished) that I've written, two are paranormal romance, one is teen fiction, and the other I'm not even sure what it is.
Anyone else have these problems?
