Rock The Vote With Hillary!

Submitted by seanlovett on February 11, 2008 - 11:03am.

"Ok, maybe Hillary doesn't shred. But she will:..."

Yes, Hillary. Please, rock us like a hurricane. So, it's been one day since her campaign manager stepped down and now we have this gem of a campaign ad.

I was really hoping to hear her voice at the end saying "This is Hillary Clinton and I approve this message." Instead all we got was the little "paid for by..." script.

I wonder if Hillary has even seen this yet. I know she wants to seem cool and appeal to younger voters and I shouldn't knock her for trying, but seriously; it's a really stupid campaign ad.

Here, see for yourself

It's Fark. I'd take anything you see there with a big, fat mountain full of salt.

I went and watched it and thought how cheesy it looked. I mean, it was just pitifully lame. Then I noticed it was on Fark and chalked it up to a joke. The fact that it's even somewhat official makes it truly pathetic. Ouch.

the cheese factor was on purpose because of their attempt to reach the younger voters. It's too bad that this makes her look so out of touch with younger voters that it will probably have the opposite effect than what she is hoping.

It's almost over the top cheesy. Maybe she will have ANOTHER change of heart and switch back to her old campaign manager? I know if I were her I would be reaming out the idiot that is responsible for this pathetic ad!

The ad says that to end the war Hillary is the person to vote for...well it neglects to say that she voted along with others for the war! Obama has never swayed on his record when it comes to this particular issue...he voted against it! The good news is that Obamas camp would never be stupid enough to post an ad like this one.

Is that, in fact, her or supporters? It really looks like an outside effort. I mean, she may not have the money that Obama has, but she could surely afford better production value. So, I wonder (and MIGHT look up - I'm seriously getting off this thing and going back to my Hero's marathon!) if it was put together by a group that supports her and not actually her camp.

the end shows that it was paid for by " hillary clinton for president". Plus, it is on her official youtube channel. If you go to hillary's official site and click the youtube link it takes you directly to this video. So, it was her camp. But, even if it was a group of supporters, the camp still knows about it and has linked to it which means they don't see the problem with it.

And, your problem, Sean??? I seriously don't get it. If Obama or some of his supporters had put this out, you'd be saying what a great sense of humor he has! Have you become so blinded that you've lost yours???

wtf?! It's a lame video regardless of who put it out. I don't know why you're getting so upset. I thought it was funny and decided to share it. It just so happens that it involved Hillary. You took this way too seriuosly and that's the problem.

Come on, Sean, give me a break. You say it yourself in the post that you see it as a dumb move on her part - not that you found it funny.

The entire post is dripping in disdane and sarcasm. As to why I'm getting "upset", it's simple. You're going out of your way to smear and I don't see the point. You've made your opinion known to all that you intend to vote for Obama and I respect that. If you want to help his campain and show your support, that's great. But, why go this route? Why when you get so mad every time Hillary says a single word about Obama? Don't ya see that you're doing the same thing that ticks you off about Hillary??? Sorry, but you can't just say this was something you found funny and wanted to share. You were pointing the "look at Hillary and laugh" finger and it's just not called for.

I honestly don't remember getting "so mad" when Hillary talks about Obama. Could you please remind me? Also, yes it's true that I don't like Hillary. But, I also know that you do and I can't help but think that that plays a large part in you being upset when I post something negative about her. Am I wrong?

As for "smearing", if I honestly thought that anyone on this site took half of what I say seriously, I would be a bit more careful in what I post. I sincerely doubt that my posts on this site would sway anyone in any direction, which is why I have no problem in posting the things that I do. The things that I say and write carry a tongue-in-cheek style while sharing my opinion and current info on what's going on in our world and my own life.

I thought you, of all people, would have known that by now.

Just have a look at any and all of your comments on the subject of the election and you'll get your answers. If you think everyone who reads your posts understands your tongue in cheek methods, you'd be wrong there. There are lots of people who read and never comment or read after finding a post just once. Hell, I've recently discovered that someone I know has been actively following my blogging for the last two years or so and I never had a clue. But, what I'm saying is that everyone who reads does not always know what we're "about". Not, that I'm at all worried about someone being swayed. Let's face it, if someone where to be swayed by one opinion, they're not making an informed choice anyway.

What I've been saying here is simply my opinion, based on the fact that I see this post as unfair and as you're now admitting to ~ negative.
But, I was wondering if you'd ask if it's my intention to vote for Hillary that's behind my comments on this. No. I'm merely pointing out what I see. You are completely wrong there and I'd comment just as strongly if there was an unfair post about Obama (or any of the others as well). I guess I should say that you should know better than that, but it's an obvious and easy assumption to jump to. Again, I simply don't see the point in it. If you're as sure as you appear to be that he'll win, then why be negative? That's been my whole point with my comments.

But, really, just because we're friends doesn't mean we'll always agree. And, it's due to my respect for you that I will openly diagree and even "call you" on points that I disagree with. If I didn't, it would simply go ignored and that you do know. And, by the way, I'm putting up a new post today - make sure you read it as it's an explanation for my disapearing act that will happen after it's put up. (just need a connection on my laptop first)

of course we're friends and I have no problem with you disagreeing with me. What I do have a problem with is that you seemed to be getting upset and taking things personally. Which is why I responded the way I did because I couldn't understand why you would.

How could you perceive my comments as me taking it personally? If that were the case, I would have talked about things other than what I did. You perceive it as that way because I'm in the other camp, which obviously is the only reason I'd have a problem with it, right??? That, I DO have a problem with because it discounts me as a thinking, rational person. I swear, I feel like I'm talking to myself here, because this "personal thing" is an insult to who I am and how I've dealt with this situation and others in the past. Why is it that my comments cannot be seen as they are??? If I did actually take the things that have been said against Hillary personally, I'd have been bitching out people all over this website. But, as can easily be seen, I haven't been. I don't take your post or opinion of the video as a personal attack on my views or choices ~ again, and hopefully for the last time ~ I pointed out what I saw: a negative sneer at Hillary for the sake of sneering. That's all it was. That's all it has ever been. I'm entirely too secure in my choices to be upset on a personal level by someone else's opinion. That's just not who I am.

Your entire tone is very, very defensive here...so ~again and hopefully for the last time~ MEANS what? If you had addressed me this way I would take it personally...and anyone would! Sneering at a stupid video that deserves sneering is not a crime, now had YOU been the one to discover this "Gem" of a video you would have championed it as what ? Art? Gimme a break!

Sean is right dammit..."none of us take him seriously" Just kidding Sean! You need not explain why you write what you write Sean for ANYONE...Last time I checked we all have at some point lived in "glass houses". All's fair in love and politics...and I don't much care for Hillary either. Hillary herself is quite snide in her own remarks about Obama and she is because she is running scared...so she attacks...Spooky much as I admire your wit, you are being a tad sensitive on this matter and the LAST thing we need to do is battle over which of these candidates is "better".....So long as the Republicans don't get another 4 years to TOTALLY decimate what's left of our way of life as Americans, I don't care which of them wins...although at least Obama doesn't lie about his positions and his voting for or against anything, whereas Hillary lies to a degree, and it's always "PC" so uuuum I disagree with you Spooky.

I'm going to go against my better judgement and jump into the fray.

I would not support this if Obama did it. I'd still wonder WTF he was thinking. In fact, I'd possibly be more disappointed. It's pandering, plain and simple. This video says to me that I'm young, so I must think it's uber-cool to be in a band. Furthermore, if it's not pandering, and it's got an actual message, what is it??? That Hillary is going to get in a position where she's liked by young people, and she'll drop them as soon as she's achieved what she wanted?? How is quitting a band supposed to make me believe that she'll make college affordable, fight global warming, or end the war?? To me, it just seemed like she had to ask what young people are interested in because she didn't have a clue.

Beyond that, I've already seen effigies of Hillary burned. I've seen her go through some really intense questioning (and she used her razor sharp wit, and handled it really well). Honestly, if she can't take my teasing her over a lame video that I'll admit I don't get, she's going to have a rough time as President. And the same is true of Obama. What I'm dishing out to either of them is mild. If she can take it (and I STRONGLY suspect she can), then I will have more respect for her.

I appreciate your input on this and I agree with what you've said. However, I think the underlying issue here is that I have been making fun of Hillary and "smearing" her (so to speak) and no one else.

I have not been fair in who I tease, mock, make fun of of, etc.
