Robobama

Personally, I think that having the next US president be a Democratic one might not be such a bad idea but I can't really build up any enhousiasm for the showbusiness-like feel of American politics. There seems to be a high level of hysterics involved.
And, of course, it's not my election as I'm not a US citizen. Here's a funny post on Tim Blair's blog about some of the aspects of the Obama campaign that seem to border on a deliberate personality cult. I don't know. It's a funny post and to have a laugh I don't have to share every one of Blair's predilections.
It seems as though so many people are fed up with the Bush era that Obama just has to be the answer, whatever it takes. Fair play. It will be interesting to see if he'll make it.

The answer is so simple, James,
that I can not believe no one has sussed it, yet.
Obama is a Vulcan.
Has he got pointy
ears then?
He must have had them altered so he could remain
incognito. LOL!!!
Actually, I'm an Obama supporter. But I thought Blair's post was hilarious. All those quotes from people trying to make Obama out as "not like the rest of us." But hey, Obama being a Vulcan is probably as feasible as him being a robot. Right?
It's amazing what kind of attention you
attract once you put yourself in the public eye. It would be my worst nightmare to always be scrutinized to the extent that it's almost impossible to lead a 'normal' life.
Oh, you said it, James.
I just could not handle it. I'm such a private person anyway, my friends don't even know all my secrets (which is probably why they are still my friends). I don't know how the people in the spotlight can do it. But I think that that's one reason Obama may appear so unflappable, because he just has to tune out most of the crap.
Do you think Hillary
will try again in four years' time? She wrote the book on ambition, I think.
You know, that's a very good question, James.
I think one of the reasons that Hillary ran such a down & dirty campaign this time was out of a sense of desperation. In 8 years she will be 69 years old - maybe a little too old to be held as electable in many minds. After all, the question of age comes up constantly with McCain, who is 72. And, if the pattern of politics holds up, in 2012 another Republican will be elected and Hillary would have to wait at least another 4 years, making her 73.
Now, if age is not a factor in her decision to run, then I would say that I believe she absolutely will run again. And I think she should. I think Hillary had some hard lessons to learn this time around and I think she just might have learned them. She is, after all, a damned intelligent lady. And I think that Hillary, in whatever capacity she serves, is very good for this country. But this time, we need a miracle. And I think Obama just may be better able to deliver that miracle than Hillary.
I think James she has learned quite a bit

about what it takes to win the nomination gracefully, Obama did just that. Now I am VERY pro Obama, can ya tell? LOL
Don't people get turned off
by the digging up dirt on your opponent school of politics? It seems such a transparent way to compete.
Well, it seems that a huge portion of the population
actually craves it because it works - it really works. That's how Kerry was defeated in 2004 and McCain just enjoyed a big bump in the polls after a vicious round of negative attack ads. Now, nevermind that the ads were false - and slightly infantile. Apparently a big enough portion of the population is so unevolved that they are swayed by crap like that.
Actually, that's one of the reasons that I sometimes think we should just let global warming continue. The idea of wiping man off the face of the earth in the next hundred years or so doesn't always seem like such a bad idea to me. I just have a hard time reconciling myself to the fact that we'd take all the animals with us.
