Republicans Vote Against Mothers.

Proving once again that they have no soul, Republicans have voted against mothers. Or, more specifically, against Mother's Day.

On Thursday, there was a vote to recognize and honor mothers. They originally voted 412-0 in favor of House Resolution 1113. But then, Rep. Todd Tiahrt asked for them to "reconsider" the vote. Rep. Kathy Castor moved to table the request. This led to a revote, at which time, 178 Republicans voted "nay".

I suggest calling them and asking what they have against you. The motherless assholes are listed below (and remember, they're all up for election):

They stick together like glue

Never mind what the American people want. The republicans vote the way other republicans want them to vote. I just posted a blog about Bush and McClain who are against raising the GI Bill for veterans especially since tuition in state schools have gone so high. They ask for sacrifice and then won't sacrifice for the troops. This administration has vetoed everything that would help our service men and women. Bush vetoed a bill to give war widows and orphans a raise, he vetoed a bill to give our service members a raise AND he cut out benefits to troops serving overseas who are not in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Instead, he sends billions of dollars in aid to Iraq which has virtually vanished into thin air and no one is looking for it. Gee, I wonder where the insurgents and such get the money to blow up our troops. The longer we stay in Iraq and send money for aid, the richer some people over there get by siphoning off money intended to help the war torn poor.

Those people don't see any aid, but I'll bet the Swiss banks see plenty of it!

I used to be a Republican, but it will be a very long time before I EVER vote for one again. This administration has saturated me and a lot of people I know because of the blatant rape of the American economy and people. It will take years to recover what these people have done to us.

They are just following their favorite son, McCain,

Pussy Willow's picture

who recently came out against a bill that would restore the equal pay for equal work for women interpretation of a portion of the Civil Rights act. He said that it would open up the possibility of too many lawsuits. The Supreme Court, which has become simply a pawn of big business, overturned this interpretation last year.

McCain said that women needed more education and more training instead of fighting for equal pay.

Excuse me? If a woman is doing the same job as a man and is performing adequately in that job, then she obviously has enough education and training for the job and she should receive equal pay. If she's not performing adequately in the job, then her employers should make sure that they give her the same training that they would a man and, if that fails, they should replace her - just like they would a man (theoretically). I don't see any grey area here. Either she's doing the job or she's not and if she is doing the job then she should get paid the same as anyone else for doing that job.

Of course, this bill would open employers up to lawsuits if they are discriminating against women. That's the whole idea behind the legislation - to reinforce equal rights for everyone.

In the last few years we have allowed a very vocal extremist minority to completely take over our government. They are reverting our country back to the dark ages and it's time we all took a stand against these dangerous people and worked to vote them out of our government.

See? This is exactly why I have been saying

that the Republicans are taking us BACK to the dark ages. McCain is even more regressive than the rest. Only the good ole boys would get his view point...any woman that votes for him is nuts or uninformed.

And they point at Muslims

and call them backwards. It seems like the males in all societies just can't get past barefoot and pregnant.....oh yeah....there is the kitchen too.

The present administration is stingy....with everyone but the wealthiest people in the country, the rest of us pay the price for it and because th emiddle class is slipping into poverty, they wonder why the economy is floundering.....gee I wonder too??????

The big corporations that are behind

Irag and most of the other crap that is going down in this country have set themselves up for the biggest fall of all. Sure, they're making money hand over fist right now, but what will happen to them when the economy does a complete tank? Oh, nevermind. It won't matter because they'll already have all the money. They'll be able to buy those $20 loaves of bread and spend $200 to fill their gas guzzlers so they can drive around the block while the rest of us starve as we walk to the soup kitchens.
