Repeat Blog, Repeat Blog, Repeat Blog Ewwwwwww

Is it just me, or is anyone else bothered by the repetitive blogging at this site and at www.writingup.com? I just came from there, and honestly, half of the blogs that I just read there.....are here now! Come on. We are supposed to be writers....let us write, not retype.

I don't really believe that you are increasing your chance of making any money by copying old blogs onto another site. Has anyone checked this out with admin?

It would sure make for a more enjoyable reading experience if they were all new blogs. On this subject, there have been a few times when there were two or three identical blogs on the same site, either here or at writingup. What's with that? Do you really think that your blog is so wonderful that someone is going to pay you double or triple for such a prime piece of writing...or what?

Ok, I vented. Have a great day.

does seem rather lame ... (re: repeat blog)

... it's not even retyping, just cut'n'paste. lazy even.

but I think I understand the rationale, since I get the sense that, at this stage in the development of both websites, most of the audience for what's written is "local", i.e. for the most part, only the writingup and bloggerparty members are seeing the things.

and if my one experiment is any indication, the two audiences are not the same. the one piece I double-posted (as a deliberate experiment) died at writingup but got snapped up here. (Gee, what does that tell me ...? :) ).

so you might get an "artificial" sense of improved readership by double-posting. but I would argue that any of our blogs that stay "local" will never make any money, the audiences aren't large enough. and, if there's a sniff of getting a larger audience, double-posting will only confuse things - alright, where does this guy/gal hang out really?

My two cents.

Good Point

Yes, when looked at it that way, it is certainly going to be detrimental to our hopes of getting and retaining an interested audience. It is confusing ....and boring. Thanks for your input.

Doesn't bother me because...

...it's simple to skip reading duplicates. You're also assuming that all Blogger Party readers are, and ever will be, readers on *the other service.* This is not necessarily true, and will be less so as things get rolling down the road. Guests coming in off links, word of mouth, or search engines won't be any the wiser for this dreaded "duplication." Besides, even people on both service may spot a post here they didn't happen to notice there.

Really, the only ones who know about duplicates are the ones running dual blogs in an attempt to boost income. Duplication accomplishes this with minimal time investment AND offers the potential of reaching a different target audience in each location. Those of us who are "hip" to the schtick can chuckle, leave the "reruns" to the guests, and move on.

I have to agree with janell on the point that not all bloggerparty users are involved with "the other service".
In addition, there are hundreds and hundreds of people surfing the net every day and many will visit either site or both sites as a guest until they register. Some people don't like to flip flop between multiple sites so the issue of "dupes" may never be noticed by them.
My feeling is to scan over the dupes and click on an item that interests me.

I don't sweat the small stuff... life is too short...
