Religious Cartoons

I’ve been watching the news and reading the papers and all that crap lately and it seems to me that World War III is on the verge of starting over some stupid cartoons. Goddamn cartoons people! Just like Mickey Mouse, or Homer Simpson, or Calvin and Hobbes, it’s a damn cartoon. I know it was insensitive and tasteless and forbidden in Muslim countries to have portraits or drawings or the Prophet Muhammad, but come on. People take jabs at Christianity and draw pictures of poor taste about Jesus and other religious figures all the time. I respect people’s religious beliefs but protesting and turning violent over a cartoon? “Some people in Muslim countries are simply using this as a propaganda tool to further ignite the flames of hatred that they have for us. And there is no doubt that in the Muslim World “some do hate us and these sentiments were long before George W. Bush. It’s such crap. Just as Christianity, Islam is preached as a peaceful loving religion-as long as you’re Islam. All other religions are seen as inferior and that’s fine, but killing others and burning embassy’s over a picture is ridiculous. Let’s not get too over sensitive, which is impossible because in this day and age someone is offended at the drop of a hat, but can we at least try. Still there’s a time to be angry and still act civilized. I completely understand their anger at the Danish paper which crossed a line but to justify violence and hatred because of it is absurd. It is simply an excuse to point the finger at America and preach hate. It’s crazy. Granted America has done some crummy stuff with the Prison abuse scandal and all, and the torturers should be punished, but at least they have prisoners. When they capture one of ours they shoot them, set them on fire, or behead them. Behead them with a dull knife while video taping it. Watch one of those sometime with the volume up. It makes you sick to your stomach. If they used a guillotine I guess that’d be more humane. I know this is not the case with all, but it raises a contradiction. You see everyone is against us and waiting for us to falter. Europe is just waiting in the shadows and they won’t pick us up when we do. It’s easy to say we put ourselves in this position but Muslims just didn’t start hating us as soon as George W. strolled into office. You can point the finger at him for recent anti-sentiments against America but he didn’t start them. I know all Muslims are not angry radicals, and in fact are very peaceful loving folks but they need to speak up more. I applaud the ones that are calling for calm. It’s just sad that we can’t be respectful of our different cultures. I'm no Muslim, so I can't appreciate the extent of their anger but I just find it appauling that a cartoon could sway this much animosity towards the Danes and us. Guess I just don't understand. Granted, we invaded their territory and feel we should leave but it’s already too forgone. Then again we didn’t slam a plane into a religious Mosque to begin with. World War III is in motion because of some lousy cartoons, although it was in motion way before that. It may not happen tomorrow, next week, next year, or ten years from now, but it’ll happen because some little incident will get blown out of proportion (God bless the media). And you best believe we’ll be fighting it alone. Just like NOW; for the MOST part. I’ll be curious to see how many Americans will put their money where their mouths are to protect their freedoms. I’m not for War, but then again I’m not the one you have to worry about. Sadly, I feel when the history books are written we’ll just be another Rome.

You said a mouth full.

You made some very valid points there. You should try to break that into paragraphs a little. It would be easier on the eyes. Great job.
