Reconstructive vs. Aesthetic Maybe?
Having a son with a craniofacial difference, we have had several visits to the plastic surgeon.
Compared to how he looked pre-surgery, my son looks amazing. I would never want our plastic surgeon to think we were anything less than thrilled.
However, when I look at what optional plastic surgery can do, like on this Washington DC cosmetic surgery site, I find myself wondering why my son can't look completely perfect.
I guess it's the difference between reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. Maybe because they had limited facial tissue and structural differences to begin with, they can't make perfection.
That's my guess, but it would be nice to know one day.
