Rain

Today it has poured with rain and the ground is very soft. So much so that the lorry delivering our heating oil this morning got stuck on our drive.

We live on very sloping land half-way up the side of a valley. If the Lorry driver had tried to move he might have tipped his lorry over the edge of the drive and down the slope. Luckily we have a farm near us, and the farmer came to our rescuse with a very large tractor. The tractor was attached to the lorry with chains and steadied one end of the lorry so that the lorry driver could manoeuvre safely. The lorry at last came free and was able to get into a better position. All this took about an hour.

Whoever knew that an ordinary delivery of heating oil could be so eventful!!
