R.I.P. WritingUp?

ModelMom's picture

Has the infamous writingup.com finally kicked the bucket? I liked that site, but have not been able to get into it one too many times....I am starting to think that I am going to have to be completely monogamous with Bloggerparty.

RIP

I know ModelMom, I posted something on writingup.com this morning and now can't get into any pages accept the homepage. What's up with that?

Tottie's picture

Certainly this is more user friendly

Mostly I have been able to get on WritingUp - but at the moment the site is down. I think this is a better place to be anyway.

writingup - down..again

writingup - down again

How can we fulfil our daily dosage of blog when the site's down so often?

What is going on over there?

I've NEVER had a problem logging on here, and this could be my new home very soon

Just need to get to know a few fellow bloggers here - why not call in to my blog and say Hi?

seems to be some major

seems to be some major problem, it's down again today....

ModelMom's picture

Yeah...still down....

Ugh, that sucks. I can't even get on to the home page. Explorer and Safari both say that they can't load the site because they can't find it. Weird.....

When the Web "can't find" a site ...

... it means the hosting computer is shut down. Or unplugged from the Internet. Anything from a power failure to a hard disk crash to somebody cutting the Ethernet cable. In WritingUp's case, if what I've heard about the site and its owners is true, the host computer is too small or slow to handle the traffic and therefore crashes periodically. I've noticed that BP has gone down a couple of times in the last few days, too. Maybe that's linked to the growing traffic on here? Only Brenda-behind-the-curtain knows for sure.

ah....

that makes sense...thanks for the explanation!

WritingUp

I thought it had something to do with that. I don't think John ever knew his site would grow this much. Sucks, though... I have, like, 20 pages of blog there. I actually prefer the look of writingUp and feel more comfortable there for some reason.

Cheers,

JP

I agree

I agree with Jason, I feel more comfortable with the site there. But John just sent this note about about what was the problem and how it got fixed and by the time I'm done with my blog entry, it's gone again. Sigh.

I suspect ...

... that if I had found WritingUp first, I would have responded the same way. But I found BP first, and became used to its style and pace. We are creatures of habit ...

Brenna Fender's picture

yes, we are

In fact, apparently there is a way to make your blog here look just like the one at writing up (which is still down, sigh). I landed on a blog that looked that way and I immediately felt "at home." However, you can't have ads on that format, so I didn't adopt it as my own.
