Quarterflash "Take Me To Heart"
With the release of their self-titled debut in late 1981, Portland, Oregon sextet Quarterflash became one of 1982's breakthrough success stories. Formed from two of Portland's most popular local bands, Quarterflash, led by husband and wife Marv and Rindy Ross, scored a Top Ten, million-selling album and two Top 40 singles, including the #3 smash "Harden My Heart."
Their follow-up album, Take Another Picture, arrived in the summer of 1983 with high expectations. It appeared that the band might be able to duplicate the success of their debut when the initial single, "Take Me To Heart," quickly gained airplay at rock and pop radio stations. A mid-tempo number, "Take Me To Heart, was build around the same elements which had made Quarterflash a hit - namely the sultry vocals and saxophone playing of lead singer Rindy Ross.
"Take Me To Heart" became Quarterflash's third US Top 40 hit in July. On the album rock charts, the song rocketed into the Top Ten, reaching #6, and it also became a hit of adult contemporary stations. It remained in the Top 40 for nearly three months, but "Take Me To Heart" stalled at #14 in September. Take Me To Heart was unable to climb higher than #34 on the album charts and, when the album failed to produce another hit single, it marked the end of Quarterflash's brief run of success.
