Quality homeschooling the affordable and frugal way

first grade | homeschooling | Kids | online homeschool | school

Today at the library, I ran into the leader of the local homeschooling group. It's kind of ironic because everytime I go to the library, I run into her. Is this a sign from above?

This is our first year homeschooling, but I didn't join the local homeschooling group. I had a few reasons, but a big one was because of volunteering. I wondered how I would have the time to volunteer. Besides that, I just didn't want to teach an entire class. Speaking in front of larger groups is not my thing.

We actually had a good little chat though. At least as good as you can with five kids between us running around lol. We got on the subject of homeschooling curriculums. Her family uses an offline curriculum. We use online and offline.

The online curriculum that we use is very affordable. Only $19.95 per month. The group leader was talking about how expensive one of their curriculums are. I was actually kind of shocked considering how affordable the one we use is. The subjects included are language arts, math, science, and social studies. These subjects cover an entire grade level.

It's very easy to use as well. My son logs in and starts learning. The homeschool curriculum keeps track of where he leaves off. So when he logs in, it shows him where he needs to go. It also keeps track of his grades. It so easy for a kid to learn with this curriculum.

In my opinion, using an online homeschool curriculum adds to your homeschooling program. Besides teaching computer skills, it also adds an alternate perspective to your teaching plan.

If you are homeschooling you should really check it out. Even if your child is in public school, you could use the curriculum to help if they need extra help in a subject. It's a great program to use.

Due to the fact I keep running into this woman, I really wonder if it's not a sign I should join the homeschooling group. I found out today that they don't require volunteers that just teach. There are many other things that a person could do. I also found out that they prefer the new members to not volunteer for the first year. They want them to just ease into the whole homeschooling program.

I think homeschooling groups are a great idea. For the parents as well as the kids. It gives everyone a chance to interact with each other. Yeah, I'm sure that I'm going to join.
