Profit Is The Whole Point
A home business, or at least a business of one's own, seems to be everyone’s dream these days. I can’t even remember all the big ideas I have had, tried, and dropped over the years. The problem – usually not enough profit to make it worthwhile.
At one time, my ebay business approached success, but their fees kept climbing to the point where I was embarrassed to keep raising my prices to cover them so it kind of petered out. Maybe I just never happened upon the right product.
Writing provides a trickle of income, but I’m glad I’m not the sole support of our family, or we would probably all be walking skeletons.
One of my daughters has a business called Acorn Publications, so a news release I saw the other day from a company called Acorn Systems attracted my attention. It seems that Acorn Systems sells business software IT value management software to help you keep track of efficiency, cost allocation, and cost reduction methods to maximize your profit.
Unfortunately, I doubt that it is set up to handle businesses as small as my ebay or writing enterprises, but it does sound like it would be just the thing for medium and larger size businesses.
Most businesses that fail, do so because the people who start them do not have enough background knowledge of what it takes to make a business profitable. If you own a business that you really believe in, but you just can't seem to get it off the ground, why not give Acorn Systems a try. If it helps, you have gained a lifetime career. If it doesn't, you can always peddle the software on ebay, to recoup some of its cost.
