Epocrates, Inc. dispenses drug and formulary guide information to over 500,000 healthcare professionals including one in four U.S. physicians and one in two U.S. medical students by PDA. The San Mateo, CA company recently announced an expansion of its service. They will now offer a free Internet-based version as well which will include: dosing, pricing, potential drug interactions, and Medicare Part D formulary coverage.

If your doctor needs to know about Augmentin or any of the other 3,300 drugs in the database, he or she will have that information available anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Epocrates also offers a premium upgrade service which has additional features such as: more than 400 alternative medicine monographs, patient education handouts, pill pictures, pill identifier and hundreds of medical tables and calculations.

Doctors find that Epocrates service is a time-saver in their practices, which allows them to focus more on the patients which is welcome news to anyone who has felt rushed during a doctor's visit.
