When my mom passed away, we were so thankful that she paid for her funeral up front. It was almost like a form of funeral insurance. She took my two uncles with her to the funeral home, unbeknownst to me, and they picked out everything that she wanted to have for her funeral. We learned our lesson the year before when my father passed away. We were so emotional that we didn’t feel like making those kinds of decisions at the time. My mom didn’t want us to go through that when she died. When she did pass away 13 months after my father, we were able to mourn her passing without the burden of deciding what color lining to choose for her casket and other trivial matters like that.
