Pinging your Blog to bring more traffic

Pinging services are assisting the Blog owners to perfrom an automatic and timely updates of the various search engines and social bookmarking sites, when the Blog is modified or added with new entry. The service of your choice sends an XML-RPC signal to one or more "ping servers," which can then generate a list of blogs that have new material.

Open ping servers, like VeriSign's Weblogs.com and Yahoo!'s blo.gs, are giving away information to other online services on the blogs that have recently pinged them. The blog serach engines can benefit from the information as they can produce searches faster, by providing first the results that were recently updated or modified.

The main advantage for the Blog owner to ping their freshly updated Web Sites is getting the widest possible publicity to the newly posted data as fast as possible. Therefore, the bulk pinging services will be quite handy, replacing the need of going and notifying each Blog serach engine and directory from the list one-by-one.
