Paris Hilton’s 18-year-old Brother Arrested For DUI. Surprise, Surprise...

Barron Hilton | Britney | Celebrities | DUI | Jamie Lynn | Paris Hilton

Barron Hilton, Paris Hilton’s 18-year-old brother, has been arrested for DUI on Tuesday (February 12). Surprise, surprise… The kid was driving a black Mercedes-Benz with an “unidentified female passenger” riding with him when he was pulled over as the car kept swerving in and out of the oncoming traffic lane. Barron was drunk, and he had a fake driver’s license.

I am not here to judge the kid. I don’t follow all this celebrity craze, so I did not even know that Paris had a brother until today. I just can’t help noticing how accurately they all follow the sad pattern. Paris Hilton drinks and drives; Barron Hilton drinks and drives. Britney’s life is a mess, and Jamie Lynn wastes no time to start messing up her life as well. They are given so much; they could have had wonderful lives. Yet, “wonderful” to them is reduced to partying, drinking, wearing fancy clothes, and driving fancy cars. Then when they realize it’s all fake we read about another suicide or drug overdose.

“It’s none of your business.” Of course it’s not. It’s their life. However, with the media insisting that we all need to know every detail of their lives, perhaps we are at least allowed to ponder the situation and draw our conclusions?

I would be happy to applaud if I read that Britney Spears’s sister went to college and made some remarkable achievements rather than follow in Britney’s steps. I would be delighted to hear that Barron Hilton did something decent and respectable rather than following in Paris’s. The sad thing is though, if they did, the media would not be so eager to report it to us. Paparazzi are drawn to scandal as flies are drawn to, uh, pardon me, cr@p, so that’s exactly what they are feeding us. And the majority of us helps them by happily devouring it and thus creating demand for more.

The only thing that redeems us is the fact that some of the comments that people leave about yet another celebrity uproar are filled with genuine care and concern, not just unhealthy curiosity. Some people see deeper than all this celebrity fluff, they see unhappy, misguided young women and men and feel sorry for them. I am sure hundreds of people are praying for Britney, Paris, and others. They would have helped if they could. Today, they will add Barron Hilton to their prayer list. I think I will do the same.
