Parents- get a myspace account

For quite a while we have had a chat monitoring software on our computer since we have two teen girls in the house. We use Chat Nanny and it has been a good addition to our computer. But, just this week in the mail we received a letter from our teens' school stating that some students from the school had posted some entries on their myspace account that had a lewd or illegal connotation. So, being the nosy parent that I am, I signed up for a myspace account to see for myself.
It was quite easy to obtain an account. I could easily search for my own daughters and their friends. I was surprised at how candid the kids were on their posts. If parents want to know what their kids are up to, perhaps you can just get a myspace account. I think parents, in this day and age of the internet, need to stay one step ahead of their teens, and protect them from potential harm. Some might think that I am invading my daughter's privacy, however, she is a minor, and a posting on myspace is public domain. I am just looking at the post just as anyone else is able to.
So parents, make sure you protect and monitor your children. Obtain chat monitoring software and check up on your child's myspace blog. Who knows, you might just be the deterrent they need.
