Palin Won't Lure Many Intelligent Women Voters

one of the reasons McCain picked her was because she doesn't have a past record in politics - that everyone else that he could have chosen would have shown a history of supporting Bush and that would have been an election killer. Another article said that this was an example of McCain's rashness, acting in the moment without thinking. And I read a couple of articles that said Palin had not even been vetted when McCain offered the position to her - that they started the vetting after he announced her.

Whatever his reasons, I think it was a great choice - if you are an Obama supporter, that is. LOL!!!

Not sure if it's sarcasm or not. But anyway, I'll answer seriously. I believe there are Family Values and then there are Family Values. When my stepdaughter turned 14 I made sure to give her all the information I possibly could about sex and about birth control. That little girl was the most precious thing in the world to me and I wanted her to have the very best opportunities in life. And I also recognized that she was a human being - a very beautiful, very loving human being and I knew that, at some point, sex would be an issue with her. So I gave her all the tools that I possibly could to help her make a responsible decision, including the decision to have responsible sex.

According to what I have read about Sarah Palin, she would not have given her daughter birth control advice because she is on the same page with all the "Abstinence Only" crap. I could talk for pages and pages about this dangerous stuff but I'll just say that I think it is practicing poor Family Values to refuse to give your children all the information they need on a subject as important as sex.

And I firmly believe that her statement was completely wrong. She should have made every effort to make it clear to the public that she was unhappy with her daughter's lack of judgement in having unprotected sex - which she obviously did. She could have done this in many ways without making it appear that she did not support her daughter but she chose, instead, to make it sound like she was happy about it all. And make no mistake, all those young girls reading her statement will interpret her statement that way.

You know, McCain likes to spend a lot of time talking about his 5 years as a POW. What people don't take into account is that an experience like that tends to weaken the body permanently. Once you lose heart muscle it never totally recovers and the starvation that prisoners went through did make them lose heart muscle. And there's a whole laundry list of other things that imprisonment like that does to the body. So, yeah, the chances that we would be stuck with a President who has absolutely no clue about foreign policy and no clue about economics, to name just 2 things, is a terrifying thought. Especially in view of all her other highly uninformed stands on issues like energy and ecology.

And I totally agree that the way a person manages their own family is a very good indication of how they would manage for the public good - or mismanage, as the case may be.

From a federal investigation currently under way for alleged inappropriate termination of several Troopers and another government official to her belief that Iraq is a "holy war" for the U.S. The woman is one of the nuttiest right wingers around. I'm simply thrilled that McCain chose her. LOLOLOL!!!!!

And I gotta tell you, that "gun toting mama" routine was almost always guaranteed to lose McCain votes. There are too many people in this country that want us out of Iraq - 82% as a matter of fact - for them to be happy with another trigger-happy bible-thumper.

I'm almost speechless at the way Palin - the hockey mom - can talk about Obama's lack of experience. The fact that the McCain campaign is relying on lies, literally lies, is frightening in itself. But the fact that people are actually buying in to these lies simply turns my blood cold. If for no other reason, we need a President like Obama who will place a serious amount of emphasis on education because this country is obviously full of illiterates.

It's no wonder the United States is quickly becoming the laughing stock of the entire world.

I am a mother and I agree with PW on all of these issues...so let me get this clear...I am un-pure? Mz. Palins motives are anything but pure...she is extremely self involved...as a matter of fact she is un-pure enough to "allow" her daughter a shotgun wedding...wouldn't want the world to think her own daughter spread her legs without taking into consideration that she might just get pregnant...then again her daughter was not given any ALTERNATIVES...and my guess is her "new" soon to be son in law doesn't care to use condoms...this argument is bogus.

right; if you believe that women should be forced to bear unwanted children, even in the case of rape; if you believe that poor women should be denied the right to birth control; if you believe that offshore drilling and drilling in the ANWR is the answer to our energy problems, even though the experts say differently; if you believe that ending the war in Irag by withdrawal is admitting defeat, even though there is a new government ready to take over; if you believe that being the Govenor of a state that is 'right next door' to Russia and Canada gives a person the foreign policy experience necessary to deal with the current world situation; then I would say that you are making the choice that is right for you.

My stand on the issues is quite different and my opinion of Palin's experience is also quite different, especially in view of the information that is coming to light about how she spent those years as Mayor of a town of 5,500 (at the time she was Mayor) and as Govenor of a state with a population of less than 1 million.
