When I wrote about the new site that I am supposed to be writing for Paid Writing a few people responded that $4 was not very much. And I have to agree - it sure isn't. But if you're a beginning writer there are other perks - things that you will learn from a gig like this.

First of all, I think that one of the hardest things that a beginning writer has to learn is the discipline. You will not become a better writer if you don't write every day and learn the discipline. Yes, please make sure you are enjoying it, but to a degree you have to treat it like a real job. Have deadlines, and regularity. Although I'm not a beginner (I have published locally and in a worldwide anthology among other things), I haven't been writing for many years and I've lost my discipline. So for me, this will help me to get back to it. I know that I've promised someone I will have copy at a certain time so I will do it.

The other thing that can be hard for a beginning writer (or one that has just become lazy like me) to learn is the research aspect. Where to look, what is valuable to you, how to do it most efficiently. So, that's another thing that I am hoping to acquire from my low-paying gig.

In the end, if it does not work out, so be it. But it's all a trial in what is working and what isn't in the end isn't it?

Just incase anyone is wondering, I have NOT heard anything from the Paid Writing people since I got accepted. I'm getting a tad suspicious but...let's give it a few more days!

Be well all!
