Over 60 Businesses You Can Start & Run From Home

This is something interesting that I thought about starting up. I will be giving over 50 small businesses you can start and run from your home. This might be made up of about 20 entries, but it's worth a shot to do.

Here it goes:

1. Freelance Publicist

You can develop media contracts and hire yourself out to local businesses, event coordinators, universities, hospitals, retail stores and civic groups to help them promote their special events, products and services.

Start up cost: You'll need letterhead, cards and a brochure describing who you are and what you do. Make sure it looks great-this is the selling tool that will make or break your business. Professionalism is best. Well, at least I think it is. You'll need a computer, printer, fax and mobile phone. You'll spend anywhere from $200 to $1,500 to get started, provided you have the hardware to get going.

Things To Think About: You should charge by the month (about $1,500 to $2,000) for your services. If your charge by the hour, charge $25 to $50. Consider taking on one-shot projects to, say, promote a store's grande opening. Develop contracts with a local photographer who can photograph events and clients.

2. Tutor Entrepreneur Service

You teach others what you know.

Start up cost: You'll need about $50 to $100 to develop a flyer promoting your business; also consider an ad in the local newspaper. Check out local television also. But television ads are a lot more expensive to purchase.

Things To Thing About: Charge anywhere from $25 to $75 an hour or whatever the going rate for your skill is. You can tutor in your students' home or in your home. Consider putting together a class of students-this is more time- and cost-effective for you. You can give class students a bargain rate.
