Our mind and our body

There is an intimate corelation betwen the mind the body. Without a body, the mind does not exist. On the contrary, a body without mind is like an aimless corpse which cannot
carry out anything meaningful. I figure our body is like the hardware of a computer and the mind is the software running inside. Either one of them goes awry, problems may arise.

Our mind, I think, is an extra super software implemented by God, the mother nature, or the result of evolution. In fact it's much more sophisticated and powerful than a computer software. A computer software, no matter how carefully designed, can only follow instrutions of the end user or the programers. The mind, however, is a flexible system. It is able to adapt itself to fit in enviroments beyond our expectation. It is able to learn, improve and adjust our body to fight against things thar are harmful to our health.

A few hours ago my computer broke down. One of its components, the VGA card doesn't work normally. And I have to replace the damaged card with a new one. This touched me off an idea that, if the hardware goes wrong, the software has liitle to help fix the problem.

But our mind may manipulate the situation differently, for example I am a shortsighted person. I have to wear glasses to help me to see clearly. It is a physical problem that the mind can not fix. But if I don't care about that, I still imagine myself a pretty diva. I may be as happy as other people and lead my life comfortably. This featue of our mind is way different from that of a software which may just stop working or making things go nasty.

The book Talk to the Mirror, which I am going to write an abstract and post on Shvoong.com, was written by Florine Mark. In the book she talks about how she changed her life and became successful. For years each day she stands facing the mirror and feed in herself with positive faith. Fanally she became a girl with a slim body and a successful business. This proves a positive mind is capable of turning things around.
