Oscommerce..... What I like and don't like about it
Anyone hear use Oscommerce as their shopping cart system?
I've been using Oscommerce for almost two years on my website. What I like the most about it, is that it came with my hosting plan. I didn't have to purchase it separately. But, over the last two years I have had to make several modifications to it, and it still needs a lot more.
Before I hired someone to make the modifications, the Oscommerce was very plain. It did not have a lot of features that people are looking for when they go shopping online. Being that I am not very technical myself, there is no way I was able to do these modifications by myself. Fortunately, I did find a very good company to do these for me. I was charged $15 - $25 for each modification.
I am still going to have to add several more. I myself attempted to add the pending order contribution, but got a My Sql error. I contacted the website hosting company, and they could not figure out what was wrong.
I am very unhappy with the company that hosts my website. I've had several problems with them as well. For some reason, there are times on my website you can click continue and nothing ever happens. Or sometimes, it will just time out. I have sent repeated emails to the hosting company, and never got a response or answer as to why.
I am considering changing my hosting company, but I have been told this is a long, drawn out process.
