Original Thought

Original Thought, The ability to conceive, out of nothing, a new idea or concept which has not been thought by another person in the history of man.

Why? What is the value of Original Thought? Well, the computer you are using was built upon an original thought, one man's original thought. Christianity, Electricity, Democracy and Microscopic Surgery were all the result of one man's original thought. Think of the world without these four original thoughts. The value of original thought is incalculable, and irrevocable.

A little girl in Spokane, WA loved her father, an American Civil War veteran and thought that if mother's had a day that the country recognized them and showed them our appreciation, so to should father's...especially hers. Her name was Sonora Louise Smart, she was sixteen. We will all celebrate her Original Thought on June 17th, Father's Day.

Many of us are born, live and die without having a single original thought, our beliefs, experiences, words, expressions and ideas are all regurgitated. In essence merely clones. Quite saddening because each of us has the ability, but few of us choose to use it. Until we have, we cannot not really become an individual nor reach our full potential.

What is the purpose of life if your entire existence was mimicry? Without room for new ideas our minds are closed, and a closed mind retains and promotes fallacy.

The world is flat. You reject that assertion immediately, but once you would have rejected the assertion that the world is round, your mind would have been closed and propagating falsehood.

The importance of Original Thought cannot be overstated.

To exert effort towards having Original Thought is really all that is required, as the ideas will come. Having a genuinely original thought today is harder than it once was, not because the world is so resistant them, (that is still true,) but because the length of humanity has increased the volume of original thoughts that exist, directly reducing the possible percentage of Original Thoughts that can be created.

My first confirmed original thought although not as practical or useful as electricity was at age 14. I had watched the news about nuclear disarmament and wondered what they would do with the all missiles that had their warheads removed. At once I thought, since they were intercontinental missiles, why not use them to launch mail back and forth from the U.S. to Europe? Mail Missiles!

After some visualization of the people waiting for their mail, looking up to the sky and welcoming the missiles that they had always feared as they are rocketing towards them, I decided maybe this was not such a good idea, and I laughed to myself. The important thing is that I had an original idea, and I realized it. Actually I had two, the second was the visualization.

The practice of having original thought promotes more original thought, so if your idea is not very useful, like my Mail Missiles, that's still acceptable because it still promotes more Original Thought like Mail Missiles promoted my visualization.

For those of you who reject the idea of Original Thought or its value probably should be careful around blog sites as they make be exposed to such and it is very, very communicable. Also, for you I will have another Original Thought, a name for opposers of Original Thought, I dub thee, Encephal Masons. Enjoy your collective brickwork.
