Opening Ceremonies at the Winter Olympics in Turin

As with every opening ceremony at the Olympics, it is usually a huge debacle with tons of performers and pyrotechnic display with fireworks and the whole bit. The commentators on NBC were hilarious to listen to because they seriously made some ditzy comments like "and with that the Olympics are over". What a tool! One could not leave behind politics just to watch the athletes walk in. The commentators would skip over some nations and the station would put a commercial ad. For example Hong Kong got skipped over in the network. My favorite moment of the opening ceremony was the begining with the performers dressed in red spandex. I'm biased because it was a bunch of modern dancers. The next moment that I liked was the formation of the long jump ski person they made. The performers made the preparation for the take off and then the skier took off. The formation they created was well put together and you can tell that the person who organized that had good team leader qualities to be able to arrange all of those performers to be able to create that pretty realistic image.
The lighting of the Olympic torch to mark the start of the games was a pyrotechnic display of lights lighting the ring around the stadium before it reached the huge torch overlooking the entire stadium.
I always like watching the Olympics, especially the winter olympics because of the figure skating events. Since I used to figure skate, you really get to know the training and the emotions that go through a figure skater. To all the competitors in those events its a matter of mind over body because they are all clearly the top in their respective countries and can do the elements in practice so its a matter of a few minutes in their short and long programs to nail each technical element. Michelle Kwan for gold!

Kwan

Michelle Kwan says she is not sure if she will be able to compete or not.

she pulled

it is unfortunate but yea, she pulled from the competition. i'm really sad about this. i'm rooting for Irina Slutskaya and Sasha Cohen. Irina because she has battled terminal illness since the past Olympics and Sasha Cohen because she is such a beautiful skater.
who cares about emily hughes or kimmie meisner.
