OPEN FORUM 1 (What is the source of food for thought?)

The source of my food for thought is music, and art.
the funkadelic maggot brain credo is this.
(we`ve done so much for so long with so little we are now qualified to do the impossible with nothing)
One of the topics that fuels my personal opinions on my culture is reparations, and the question i'm asking constantly is
why ask for reparations when slavery isnt over?

Brief Educational moment:
Right now africans in the sierre lione region make baskets the same way south carolina blacks do. african accoustic guitarists play the same way muddy waters, and robert johnson played, and none of the people i`ve mentioned have ever met. there are centuries and an ocean between them.

There seems to be a lot of intellectual energy here so I was wondering if anybody wanted to elaborate on this question.
What is the source of food for thought?
