One of My First Attempts at Non-Dog Writing
If you've followed this blog, you know that I am a freelance writer by trade, and that I concentrate my efforts on dog publications. I have written mostly for training magazines, but most often I write non-training types of articles. I've written about flooring surfaces for agility facilities, good vehicles for carting your dogs and dog training stuff around, what shoes you should wear while running dog agility, how to travel safely with your pet, pet insurance, and so on. If it's related to dog sports (especially agility), I've written about it, or I'm writing about it, or I have it on the agenda for the near future.
Since the market has only so many dog sports related publications, I've been trying to expand my horizons. I've written one grant, and I've created some lesson plans and sold them to a website. Recently, by the way of this blog, I've become involved with writing about writing.
I did some website writing for Inspired Author Inspiredauthor.com, and I've written what I believe is my first non-dog-related article in an actual magazine - it's an interview of a writer (who actually competes with dogs, that's how I know her, but hey, you know, it's NOT A DOG ARTICLE). You can see the magazine at its website Novel Writer Magazine. You'll have to buy the mag to read my work, but feel free to check out the table of contents and appreciate my byline there.
