A couple of weeks ago I asked a question in this forum to all the ladies. I asked, why women let their friends decide what they do and who they do it with? This question generated a few responses. So this entry is just a follow up to that. If you want to read the original post it called "A question for the ladies..." or something along those lines. You can find it with my other posts.
I think I left off by telling you guys that the lady basically left me standing in a bar all by myself while she left to go somewhere else with her friends.
After that night, I think I called her two more times. The last call ended with her saying that she would call me back. She never did, so I never called her back. I'm not the type of guy to chase after a girl just to keep getting humiliated.
Since that last phone call I've gone out numerous times in the following weekends. This girl would only be on my mind if I happened to go to a place that she said she had been to. Most times I wouldn't care if I saw her, usually I would just laugh about it with my friends.
There are some instances however when I would do anything in my power not to run into her. Lke yesterday.
Yesterday I spent the whole day with another girl that I've been seeing for a while now. It was great day spent in New York City. The day ended with dinner in Times Square and then a train ride back to my apartment.
The time was about 5:30pm, I realize yesterday was a holiday, but the train was pretty crowded. So I'm standing against the door of the train with my date basically leaning against me. We're talking to each other, laughing and having all around good time.
Then I look up and standing not even five feet in front of me is the girl who left me in the bar. At first I wasn't sure if it was her, then we made eye contact. I could tell she doesn't play poker because once the eye contact was made she immediately glanced towards the ground. Then I would catch her sneaking glances at me. So at this point I was pretty sure it was her.
Normally these situations wouldn't phase me one bit. Normally, I wouldn't be standing there with another girl either. The last thing I wanted was for a scene to occur. So I'm standing there thinking maybe she doesn't recognize me and that I have to just go one more stop.
Then she gets off at my stop. Not only that she went up the stairs that I go up. She got off the train in a hurry, so about a million things are racing through my head. The worst being that she is going to be standing at the top of the steps waiting to unleash some inappropriate comment in my direction.
Luckily, when I got to the top of the steps she was at the curb haliling a cab. She glanced at me one more time and jumped in a cab. Disaster averted!
What are the odds in a city as big as New York that could happen to someone? Once you figure that out, cut those odds by about ninety percent and you have the probability that it will happen to me.
