Old Horror Films - Those Were The Good Old Days

Submitted by susang on October 29, 2007 - 8:45am.

I was in the mood for a really cheesy horror movie the other day and found the 1958 movie The Blob at the library. I had never seen this movie before and thought it sounded funny.

It was a typical B movie. My family laughed at the visual affects from 1958, and the horrible acting (or lack thereof). It was a hoot! It reminded me of watching the old horror movies on TV as a kid in the 60’s/70’s. You remember, the black and white Godzilla movies that were so fun to turn the sound down and make up your own words for the actors. They came on television on Saturday afternoon and we would eat popcorn and sit on the floor, too close to the television until my mom made us move back from the screen.

It made me nostalgic for the “good old days”. I wonder what this generation is going to find nostalgic in 30 or 40 years?

Unfortunately it will be "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"

for a couple of reasons: A) I am just a horror film person. Those are always my favorite movies, and B) I like to see how far the technology has come from what used to be scary back then and how they did it, to how they do it now and how much more scary and real it is now.
Saturday I watched on television, the original "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers", with Donald Sutherland.
