Ok, I'd Like to be Rich Now. (aka Somebody Else Please Pay My Bills)

Money may not be everything, but as I pulled out a gargantuan stack of bills, mixed in with the requisite pile of junk mail, from my mailbox today, I decided that I would like to be rich.

It is damned expensive to live nowadays.....and it seems like these bills just grow exponentially with every breath my family takes, unlike our anemic bank accounts. Moving to Portland has done wonders for my husband's work, but let's just say I left my income somewhere near the California border. And these bills, have mercy!

I have always been the type of person that pays her bills off the minute they enter the house. And I have also always taken for granted that the bills would always be correct, never questioning charges & amounts. Well.....let me give you some advice, unless you are already with the program....check the minute details fo your account statements. You'll be amazed at what and how much you are paying for for things you may not even use.

Our cell phone bill has progressively been getting larger over the past months. Neither my husband or I use our phones too much, so I finally took a moment to look at all of the charges and found a new one, PCS International Calling. We have been charged almost $10 extra per month for a service we never have nor ever would use.

This International calling service would allow us to get "great rates" for calls we make on our cell to overseas locations according to the Sprint customer service agent I talked to. Hmmm.....hubby and I never call overseas, that is what email is for! So I promptly cancelled that service and have been left wondering how many other things we are randomly billed for and never really know about. We never signed up for this International service yet one day it just started showing up on our bill. Interesting.

So, yeah, I would like to be rich right about now. I hate paying bills, hate using the credit cards, ugh! Limitless wealth would be so wonderful! Financial freedom! Woohoo! Yeah, that would be ever so nice. And I don't mean that I want to be rich so that I can acquire the latest in LV luggage or those to die for Prada sandals (although that would be nice...lol!). If I were loaded with cash I would be helping out my family members & friends, traveling...a lot, investing in real estate (abroad, of course!) and paying bills. Paying bills without batting an eye. What? You want $250 for the water & sewage we have supposedly used (which I know we are being grossly overcharged for, but I can't fight the city, ya know?) Sure! No problem! And let me add a little extra just because I can, especially since you seem to charge us as if we had a herd of elephants bathing and taking dumps in our house.

Yes, yes, that would be nice. But I guess for now I'll go ahead and continue watching my account shrink into oblivion while I pay for electricity, natural gas (has anyone been able to figure out how to harvest natural gas emitted by husbands yet? That would surely be a great way to save some money!) and so on. *sigh* Oh, it is fun being an adult in the Real World, isn't it? Uh-huh.
