Well I dont know how many of you follow American Idol, I can say that I have watched it every season it's been on.
For the most part, alot of the contestants are not that great, or they are just like everyone else the pop radio stations play. But every now and again, there is that one contestant that just blows me away. Chris Daughtry was one of those in the past seansons. Not only can they sing, but you can tell that they posess such a talent for the music business as in writing, arranging, and it comes so naturally for them, as if they dont even really have to try.
David Cook is doing it for me this season. The fact that he is from my hubbys home town of Blue Springs, Missouri is also another big factor.
Honestly though, I absolutey see the talent he has with music and even if he doesn't win, the boy will be big as hell.
Today was the homecoming for all three finalists that are left. Each goes home to their home town for a big celebration, and parades, and singing, and lots of other stuff.
David Cook had a huge day himself. He started it off at our local tv station for an interview and then it was off to our new KC Power and Light District in downtown Kanasa City where he performed for approximately 6,000-8,000 people.
Then after that he was off to the city of Blue Springs for the parade which had close to the same amount of people and the news was actually saying it was like 10,000 people. From there they went to David's high school, Blue Springs South, for a gathering again on the football field where the mayor announced that it was officially "David Cook Day" not only in Blue Springs, but the state of Missouri as well and then presented him with a plaque and the key to the city on it. David Cook actually got teary eyed at all the people that showed up and I think he was very overwhelmed by it. He sang a couple of songs acoustically and then, I hope for his sake, that he got some kind of break and something to eat before it was off to Kauffman Stadium for the Royals baseball game where he was throwing out the first pitch and recieved his own ball jersey with his name on it.
He will sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch.
Then he boards a plane and it's back to Los Angeles to prepare for Tuesday nights American Idol Show.
Dont know about you all, but I am exhausted from just knowing what he had to do today. He sure seemed to be very humbled by it and seemed to enjoy all of it.
In my opinion, I think he will win, but then I said that back when he became one of the top 12. We will see.
All in all it was a great homecoming for him and all of Kansas City, and Blue Springs.
Tune in Tuesday night to see all the highlights of all three contestants during their homecomings, as well as three performances from each one.
