Obama, McCain, and Racism
While watching the national news one evening, the evening anchor stated that a strategy Hilary Clinton was propositioned to do (but declined); John McCain was giving serious thought to doing. What was it?
It was to attack Barack Obama and his patriotism! Basically they wanted to place doubt about how American was he really? The premise behind this blatant racism attack stems from Barack spending time in Indonesia as a youth. This "logic" that seems to be pushing this foolishness stems from the fact that the senator has an African sir name. Also, the explanation of why he was in Indonesia as a youth is because his mother married an Indonesian man and of course his mother was not going to abandon her son after having had married. What loving mother would?
This just shows that even in 2008 race is an issue that needs to be dealt with and it is sad that Barack's opponent can't seem to put together an honorable campaign without attacks on his heritage and commitment to this great nation of ours. To me it is a sign of desperation because he probably thought he was a shoo in for the White House.
This type of rhetoric also feeds into the fears of some misinformed Americans that if a man or woman of African descent is blessed with an ethnic name they are dangerous, militant, un-American and not to be trusted.
If this is the strategy that will be used then my advice to him (McCain) would be to fire his advisor who approached him with this and it more than likely is the same person who came up with the "brilliant" idea of giving away those tire gauges.

I agree with you here big time Jaden40

The attack is always on a personal basis with the conservatives, and John McCain is no exception....instead of having us focus on the fact that McCain said that he is anti Roe vs Wade etc.. that should scare the crap out of every woman that has brains in this country...but noooo, they want to deflect the issues with "hey he's not wearing a pin" they are all the more vicious because McCain has a whole lot to lose...he's a man that is 72 years old and he does not want to be the first white man to lose the biggest race of all to a black man. I hope to hell Obama does win, I don't think the country can afford this kind of mentality and put up with any more mishandling of our constitutional rights...and then there's the economy, health care etc. This country is more than ready to have an intelligent leader...leader being the operative word.

I agree with you on all counts. The "good ol' boys club is about to get a major reality check and we will finally be able to see what it means when our forefathers wrote in the Constitution "We the people".
I just hope that they can't cheat their way into

the White House again...I don't put anything past the big corporate machine that is the "conservative" minority. Why no one notes that it's a minority right wing control group that has been messing up this country is beyond me. This is why it's so important that we get out the vote to those people that agree but don't want to be bothered enough to vote.We should win by a landslide.
We will win
The American people are not stupid because they understand how the coporate machine works. Have you noticed how quickly the gas prices have dropped? The changing of the guard is near and coporate giants are shaking in their boots. No more free lunches! LOL

I also should point out that a small percent, like 10%, of the political families have been in control since George Washington's time....literally speaking it's time this country stopped pandering to the whims of the few and started paying attention to the people that elected them...we need to reclaim our country and our battered self respect. If McCain wins the rest of the world will know without any doubt that we have no common sense.
You are so right, Jaden40.
But here's the thing, all McCain has is personal smears. Obama can talk circles around him on the economy, health care, women's issues, foreign policy, Iraq, Afghanistan, Russia, energy - everything! Every time McCain opens his mouth he shows us how ill-informed he is, how unintelligent he is, how unprepared he is to actually lead anything more than a wet t-shirt contest.
McCain would have us involved in war, war and more war. McCain would completely destroy a woman's right to choose what happens with her body - Bush is already trying that and Hillary is fighting him tooth & nail. You can get involved in that fight by signing Hillary's petition. Sorry, but I just gotta sitck that in every chance I get. :-D
