How Much Longer?

Just how much longer before the world moves on?
Michael is dead, people. Accept it. Yes, he was a celebrity, but so were Ed McMahon (who, by the way spent almost twice as much time in the public eye as MJ, and much more consistently), Fred Travelena, Farrah, Gale Storm and a couple of others who escape my memory at this moment (being almost old does bad things to memory. If you can, try to avoid becoming almost old. I'm not advocating death, but just try to stay young forever. It's a wwaaayy better option!).
Okay, so Farrah is getting a reasonable amount of attention. But these others are going all but unnoticed, and many of them were stars as big (or bigger) than MJ. Where's their unending stream of "tributes", "memorials" and such?
The last time a celebrity death caused this much uproar, was Princess Di. That was deserved. The world was truly affected by her death. The world is truly worse off without her. And by world, mean the planet Earth. I don't mean the entertainment world. In 20 years, MJ will be a footnote in entertainment history. In twenty years, Princess Di will be renmembered as someone who worked to end strife and famine on our planet. And not just with a well-worded song, sung by a bunch of great and near-great artists. But by setting an example for the rest of us to follow.
Before that, this amount of hoopla was over Elvis' death. I still don't get that. Mel Torme was a better singer, with more lifetime hits and a mmuuuch longer career than Elvis -- a man whose songs had just as much impact on their audience -- yet no one suggested that his death was a hoax, and tried to hang on to that for umpteen years. By the way...is there anyone who still beleives "The King" is still alive?
All I'm saying here is, enjoy MJ's music and his videos. There will be no more of them (discounting, of course, the tapes that were left in the Motown vaults that will no doubt start popping up in the next few years). In their place, however, will be another singer, dancer, video star, concert attraction that will have the same impact on the entertainment world (and his/her fans)as Frank Sinatra, Elvis, The Beatles, The Monkees, and that little guy from Gary, who couldn't decide what he wanted to look like.
It's time, folks. Let's let it drop, so we can move on with the really important things in life. Like what era of his career all the MJ impersonators will focus on.

We are here and then we are gone.
Everyone Loves Raymond, Peter Boyle, Frank Barone. also dead. So sad.
It's What the Media Hypes
that turns it into a frenzy. Yes, people were upset mostly because it came as a shock that this 50 year old boy was old enough to die like many 50 year old people. He was eternally a teenager.
Mel Torme is dead??
Now that's just plane wrong!! I get your point, but I still like MJs music. The media have to harp on someone or something...and hell it helps all the dirty, rotten politicians hide their "tryst's" ya know? If we focus on Micheal Jackson then we can't, or rather wont, notice the liars and cheats in DC. Usually Republicans...
~lol~ Sassy, your so
~lol~ Sassy, your so anti-Republican!!!! Homer, if your putting in a plug for Mel Torme then your beyond ALMOST old. *lol* It's only been a few day's since the passing of MJ's death but it does seem longer because the media runs this kind of stuff into the ground. *which most would be better left there* But sadly, and within a short period of time we have lost what feels like a generation. *shakes head*
