Truly Indian Cars

The latest bug in the Indian car industry is the concept of truly Indian cars. These cars would be designed and engineered in the country using technical expertise and creative imaginations. The vast pool of talented professionals and designers in India are in demand by global car manufacturers.

Some of the car manufacturers who are working on this innovative concept are General Motors, Maruti Suzuki (MSIL) and Volkswagen. General Motors is planning to launch a compact car in India by 2009.Maruti Suzuki is in race to produce completely built Indian cars. The company also has plans to start car designing and engineering from a scratch. Volkswagen is still under the developmental stage for producing Indian cars.

The recent launch of A-star from Maruti Suzuki has set a new benchmark in the industry. Though this global car was manufactured exclusively in India, we cannot call it as completely Indian car as a bunch of Japanese technologies were involved.
