World Series of Poker

The World Series of poker started in 1970, back then their were only 7 players in the main event. This year the main event at the World Series of poker consisted of 6844 players from around the world.

Poker has really taken off these last few years. Thanks too TV. Texas hold’em was first seen on the Travel channel now it’s televised on ESPN. Poker has a cult following in the United States similar too what chess had back in the Soviet Union during the 1970’s and 1980’s.
