No sleep for me tonight.

My children have always been fairly good sleepers. They carry it too far sometimes. My daughter slept through the night ever since she was a month old. I was worried at first, but she was gaining weight and seemed to be fine, so I felt it was stupid to bother her. I have literally had to tell them to come wake me up when they are sick if they need me for anything. So that's why it was really surprising tonight that my daughter actually did wake me up.

She's been sick the last few days. It has to be from going to my mom's house, and her amazing fridge of doom. I swear, you do NOT want to know the unspeakable horrors that woman has in her fridge. I try to get them outside food, but if I turn my back, she's handing them a popsicle or apple, and they have been contaminated by the sheer presence of the rest of the crap. I could tell you a horror story about what I found in her pantry that had not yet made it into her fridge, and would have if I hadn't called her on it. But you would wonder how I made it past childhood without getting botulism. No, I'm not kidding. Not at all.

My daughter has had a fever all day. I keep giving her children's tylenol, and it goes down a bit, but it's still pretty high. The worst part is that she acts normal, and she wants to do all the things she normally does, but she can't understand why I'm making her lay down all day. She's been shaking with chills, and it's gotten so bad she could barely take the medicine.

Well, she came and got me. The first time either of my kids has ever woken me up for anything (since they were babies). She needed a drink of water. Poor baby. We got her a drink and medicine, and I tucked her back in bed, but now I'm too worried about her to fall right back to sleep.

I only hope my son doesn't pick it up. He starts school this week, and he'd feel awful about missing the first few days.

ICK!

Brenna Fender Says:

So sorry! You know you can alternate Tylenol and Motrin every three hours to keep a fever down.

My kid wakes me up once almost every night. Just for a few minutes, but...sigh.

I always, ALWAYS, forget

I always, ALWAYS, forget about the tylenol/Motrin thing until I don't need it anymore.

Oh boy. I wouldn't complain about it too much if my kids woke me up, because they are kids, but I can't imagine them doing it every night. It just boggles my mind.
