No Faking on the Engagement Ring Please!

ModelMom's picture

This is so funny.....I just saw an ad at the back of a magazine for engagement rings made out of some new material called diamonique or something to that effect....and the ad stated that "your wife will never know [it's not real]". How awful is that?

Not that diamonds or any other type of jewelry should make or break a relationship, but if a guy is going to be elusive about whether or not the ring he is using to ask his woman to marry him with is real....well, that doesn't say much about the guy now does it?

I am not a huge fan of the proverbial "bling" myself. My taste runs towards the simple & classic. My husband presented my with a beautiful and modest diamond solitaire (and yes it was real!) when he asked me to marry him. It was perfect. At the time he was starting out at a new job and we had just moved to an insanely expensive city, but he was still able to find the perfect diamond engagement ring that was within his budget. And doing so is really not that difficult. All it takes is a little time and thought, a little research ....and any man can get the perfect diamond for his wife-to-be without having to worry that someday she'll find out that her ice is really made out of a latex/glass hybrid!

Great Diamond Jewelry Site
Take a look at this diamond jewelry website. Their prices and selection are
among the best I've seen on the web especially for diamond rings.
They have a money-back guarantee and offer free shipping. They also have
some very nice and engagement rings.

You know...

... when we got married, we had old rings that were in our lives before each other. The day of the ceremony, we went to the mall in Eugene and I bought us two $35 rings. Rob had not given me a single piece of good/real jewlery since. I did get a nice necklace once, but it was so fake it turned my neck green. He was sweet about it.

Anyway, come this Valentines day, we're in Eugene visiting (sorry again for not being able to break free!!) and at dinner he whips out a gorgeous floating heart necklace with a diamond ... REAL. All I wanted was a floating heart necklace and he delivered! We had a great dinner at the resturant where we had our first Valentine's Day, 8 years earlier. When we get back to the homestead (not our hotel), he brings out a HUGE HONKIN' RING with 8 real diamonds. WHOA!!!! It's freaking beautiful. Took 8 years, but i got me some diamonds.

Later, for our 7th anniversary, I upgraded his wedding band to this indestructable Tungsten Carbide. He loves it. For my gift (remember, it's also my bday), I got a large emerald cut aquamarine ring with a trio of diamonds on each side. It's sooo gorgeous. I dont think I'll get anymore for another 8 years, but this will tide me over!

I love you & miss you, m.
