No car, no job but I have God as my provider.....

On Wednesday the 25th of January my car was repossessed so not only do I not have a job but now I have no car to look for a job and to top it off I have not one but two parking tickets I owe $200 for now. I have written people for help, contacted my church and other churches for assistance, left posts at craigslist.com, and most of all done a lot of crying and praying about it but ultimately it is up to God where I work, how I get to work and what I do while I wait so I have been reading my Bible most everyday to get some direction to where I am going. My husband has a job but in San Diego, CA for two people to make it in the same household both need to be working and I have no real work skills so I make calls, go to places like the South Metro Career Center to find work, print resumes and send them out or give them out if I have transportation to do so. I also send my resumes through the Internet to improve my chances of finding work through Online Employment Agencies like Monster.com, DiversityInc, SD Jobs and Caljob.ca.gov but so far the jobs are to far or I don't have qualifications to apply so I continue to look on line for work and then I look for free stuff like bikes so I can ride to work from home which means getting to work won't cost me anything as long as the bike is in good condition. I would like to someday work for The Monitor or some Christian newspaper if someone would give me a chance to use my ameteur writing skills. I have never attended a writing school but I have always loved writing. I have been writing poetry since I was 10 years old and even had a website at one time but it has been tampered with so I plan to design a new one which is a reflection of my faith. Being a Christian means that I know who has everything under control which means I have no reason to worry but that doesn't mean I don't think about my future and what I would like to do. Also being 39 years old is another thing I think about. Since I am almost 40 I would like to have an on going career doing something before I get much older but right now I don't know what. I attended an Auto Body Repair and Refinishing ROP course back in 2003 but haven't found a job doing that yet so the search for a job goes on but not just a job but one I will like and enjoy. I have worked at McDonald's, KFC, Dominos, a place called the Purple Cow in Phoenix, AZ, and other restaurants and was injured while working for Shoney's and then injured again while I was working for Sony Electronics. I don't want to work for any company that I have to make calls or use a cash register but right now that seems like my only option but without a car how do I get there and then how do I get home. I don't mind taking the bus or the trolley but I hate public transportation although it is useful for when you have no way to get anywhere. I guess all I can do is keep praying, keep, looking for work and wait for God's timing because his timing is perfect.

I'm thinkin'...

a) I hope this isn't an example of your writing if you hope to get work writing, though SDEAN23 apparently got work writing and her writing isn't much better.

b) Sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and just do something. Personally, if I was at that point, I'd go the grocery store route. They almost exclusively promote from within and it's union so once you get off low-man-on-the-totem-pole status and no longer are bagging groceries or pushing carts it's actually an excellent income for tasks that are really low stress, low skill, and require no education. Heck, the higher skill level grocery store positions like meat cutters make $40+k to start. During the grocery store strikes here in Southern CA the Vons near where I was living in Mission Valley (San Diego) there was a sign out for all the positions they were hiring replacements for and it was basically from $18.51/hr (produce something) to $24.51/hr (meat cutters). $24.51/hr is $51k a year.

Good Luck!

Looking for work is the worst!

Here's hoping.

I wish you well.

Once I had gotten fired from a radio station (new management) and then I found what I thought was a transition job as a receptionist. They almost didn't hire me because I was overqualified. But I told them not to sweat it.

What they didn't know is that before I had been fired from the station, the new managers and sales-holes had almost driven me to a nervous breakdown and all I wanted was a job with the least amount of responsibility and pressure. Kind of like Kevin Spacey in American Beauty.

Anyway it turned out to be an awesome job with great people and I stayed for two years until my husband decided that he would support me if I wanted to quit.

Hell yeah, I quit. On a high note, too.

If you have to take a transition job, do it. It might turn out great for you.

Save a horse, ride a cowboy!!!

No matter what I do write blogs or poetry it is in God's hands

Yes I do need to take some writing classes although I write better poetry than I do posts. I have been writing poetry since I was in first grade and have enjoyed it immensely. I had the opportunity to write a couple of stories as a member of The Rock Church's Writer's Ministry which the leader and editor enjoyed.

For those of you who are interested in viewing them follow these navigation links to do so,

Now that I come to think of it, I didn't think about my blog I just wrote it and since it isn't a newspaper or a major article submission site I also didn't think it mattered how I wrote it but in the future I will think more about how I write and what I write.

Also I am leaving a navigation link for whomever is interested in reading my poetry and if you like you can give me some feedback later in your comments.

Along with writing I love to take pictures so when I have a car I plan to look for freelance photography work and take pictures with my digital camera and see if I can earn an income that way until something else comes along but no matter what I want or how much I think out loud ultimately everything is still in God's hands so all I can do is do what I am able and wait for Him for the rest.

Oh no

I'm 26 years old and you sound just like me but at age 39. Maybe you and your husband should just move to Gillian and have babies. I'm serious! Life is short, ask and pray to God what he really wants from you. I did that today and he wanted me to clean my kitchen. Now I'm going to see what he wants me to do next, cause this was a break.
