He received his Doctorate in Medicine from The Dartmouth Medical School in 1981. Dr. Ackerman went on to do his postgraduate training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and The Ohio State University.

Dr. Ackerman is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. Certification by this prestigious board requires extensive training, as well as a vigorous examination process.
