Never Give Up

In 2004, the lawfirm of simmons, jannace & stagg fought and represented Nancy Burpee, on a pro bono basis, who is a world class paralympic swimmer, in her olympic dream to join the 2004 Paralympic Olympic team in Athens, Greece. At the olympic trials in Minneapolis, Minnesota she set the worl records in the 50 and the 100 yard free style - but was disqualified by the Australian referee because of a procedural tecnicality.

At this time she asked the firm to overturn her disqualification so that the U.S. Olympic Committe could name her to the team. Live testimony was taken from the other swim referees that the Australian referee was bias against her because they didn't want her to compete against the Australian swimmers.

They ruled against her and she was declined a spot on the team. However, she still continues with her swimming career.
