Networking - The Secret to Freelance Writing

Diane Brunner's picture

The more I get into freelance writng, the more I learn just how important networking is. From the contacts I've made in that last month and half, I have found several sites to find work at. Some jobs have been decent and some not. I have learned that while it can be done fast, it realistically will take at least 8 months to make about what I want. I have learned that low paying jobs really are bad. Although one I did go after paid me lots more than it said it was going to, so sometimes you have to take a chance. But nothing can help you like the people who have been there and are doing it right now. They don't have to be doing it full time or as an only job, but they know how to get where you want to go and where to look. Plus some of them can give you other places to look that you might not even think about yourself. I have met people both here and at WritingUp.com that I find invaluable. They have steered me to new sites and given insite to things I knew nothing about. I look forward to their wisdom every day that they post. So make sure that if you want to know where to go for good jobs, you talk to those who know. And make them your friends.

Hooray for Networking.

I couldn't agree more. The networking which results in friendships and information on these sites is invaluable. I have been a networker (not network marketing - just networking for years and it has taken me in the most amazing places - jobwise and personall. It is the way to go.
