Natural Remedies for Rheumatism
Rheumatism is a condition that describes the painful swelling, soreness and stiffness of aching joints. There are many natural remedies that may help to ease the pain of rheumatism, but some may work better than others, depending on your own body. Here are some of the most popular ones:
Onions and garlic eaten regularly will provide relief. Eat plenty, by making onion soup, or raw garlic salad dressing (with grated garlic, olive oil and chopped parsley, and seasoned to taste).
Peppers and chillies contain the substance capsaicin, which is a chemical that desensitises nerves and helps to control pain. So try and include plenty of these in your cooking.
Starting the day with a breakfast of raw oats, grated apple and yoghurt, can also aid in the reduction of joint pain.
Another remedy for rheumatic aches and pains is a hot bath with epsom salts added, or you can try putting three quarters of a tablespoon of dried mustard or cayenne pepper in the bathwater.
