National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and Marine Electronics
A web release by http://www.northeastmarineelectronics.com/ today notes that mariners can now get free electronic downloads of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Raster Navigational Charts (RNCs).
Such charts improve safety and efficiency in marine transportation. These charts are digitally scanned images of a paper nautical chart used by mariners for navigation.
NOAA say they will endeavour to produce official raster charts and deliver weekly updates with notices containing local navigational information to Mariners. They will also provide a cumulative file of updates with Notice to Mariner information for each chart edition. This will be posted on the Web site: http://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov.
The company who issued this web release - Northeast Marine Electronics - claim they can cater to all marine electronic needs ; electronics you may need for camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and driving. They wish to draw attention to their collection of Standard Horizon electronics and their high-tech GPS chart plotters. They also claim to have a large selection of electronic fishing tools such as the Furuno Fish finders. They want all marine electronically inclined folk to let their enthusiastic and knowledgable staff help choose the discount marine electronics needed.
Sounds fair enough.

Uh...Thanks, Wig
That's some pretty specific info you are passing on there. I would never have known of it had I not read your post.
