If that isn't the most famous joke of the '80s, it must be close and it has no punchline.

The joke, as you probably already know, comes from the iconic '80s flick "The Breakfast Club" and is told by John Bender (Judd Nelson) as he crawls through the ceiling. As Bender is about to deliver the punchline, the ceiling tile gives way, sending him crashing to the ground before completing the joke and leaving a generation of moviegoers wondering the outcome.

The punchline is that there was no punchline. Apparently, Nelson had ad-libbed his spiel. After crashing through the ceiling and reappearing in the school library, he was to deliver the joke's conclusion, but the set-up left everyone flummoxed for a finish. In the end, Bender simply deadpans, "I forgot my pencil," in the place where the punchline would have been.
