MySpace to Join Television Presidential Campaign Programming
MySpace is a network of millions of "channels", that is, each member can choose to run what ever "programming" they desire on their MySpace.
Working at KZLAZY Radio I was not surprised to read the press release that MySpace was joining with TV producer Mark Burnett in a collaborative production to have a televised format to select an Independent (which will be the name of the show) candidate for President of the United States.
MySpace was purchased by the FOX Broadcasting Network's owner, The News Corporation, to take advantage of it's hundreds of millions of daily page views to promote FOX television shows and feature films, so it was inevitable that the Website would move into television programming.
MySpace's number one competitor YouTube has been credited with affecting election results in race farther down the ballot, how realistic is this? Click this link:

The Independent will offer a cash prize of $1,000,000 to the winner (according to the press release-this sounds like a "game-show" format) that can be used by the candidate to finance a run for the White House or be given to a Politial Action Committee.
A million dollars, sounds like a lot of momey, but the current declared candidates (all twenty-three of them)from the two partys are trying to raise 100 million dollars apiece to show their respective party activists (who do the actual campaign work) that they have a serious chance of winning the Presidential Election.
This is the sad state of American politics today, it has become a television advertising contest; with the constant repetition of boring ads being the decider of who will become the next President of the United States.
Look for YouTube (owned by Google) to announce it's own independent Presidential candidate programming effort in the coming weeks. (Political activists have been running videos of the opposing party's candidates most embarrasing moments.) YouTube, the ultimate "Channel of millions of Video Channels" could be used creatively to present "positive campaign" messages.
The Presidential Election is over a year away so stay tuned for the interesting developments.
