MySpace and Sexual Predators

I don't know why kids are so attracted to myspace, but it is obviously addicting. I weaned my kids off the internet completely. There are banned from the internet, phone and video games until June. Every action has a consequence.

I have spoken to my children about the internet and sexual predators. I explained that there are sick people that will portray themselves as someone else to lure them to some sexual perversity.

A friend of mine opened a myspace and invited me to join. I opened an account and the freaks gravitated. Ok, so my friend is a model and she placed various pictures from her portfolio. I posted one icture from my portfolio and it wasn't anything promiscuous, but it didn't matter. I received invitations from some freaky deaky people and I was appalled. I don't know if the administration over there doesn't attempt to censor the crazy porn type content or the site is so big that they are overwhelmed, but you would think that a site that caters to teens would be a bit more cautious.

I canceled my account. It takes forever to navigate on the blog space and that's annoying. I blog on many different blog sites, but myspace is the worst. The young kids can't write and it's disturbing to realize how screwed up this nation's kids are.

I watched the Dateline special on the internet about internet sexual predators and most of the offenders had accounts on myspace and chatted with boys and girls that they believed were 12, 13, and 14 year olds. That's sick! The worst part is that they did an undercover sting in conjunction with the police and caught all of these men. One of them was a teacher from the neighborhood school. Did I forget to mention that he is married and has 3 kids?
