My Online poker challenge...day 3
Poker is on television almost every day, with ESPN having the most poker shows. I read a statistic the other day that says 100 million Americans play poker. With all this interest online pokerrooms are doing a very healthy business. One statistic I read stated that Party Poker clears between 5 and 6 million dollars a day. What does that mean to your average poker player? Well to begin with, the chances of finding a poker game anytime you want are very easy. As I write this, it is almost 1 a.m. Pacific time, yet I can sign on right now to either Party Poker or Pokerstars and easily find 500+ games going on. I started playing poker when finding action was hard to do and usually meant driving at least an hour. Now I can find a game, many games in fact, from the comfort of my home. Once again I ask what does this mean? Well in cold hard facts....it means money. Money to the online pokerrooms, and money to anyone who has the discipline to play a good game of poker. Can anyone do this? Yes and no. Anyone can do this if they have the patience to learn the game and have the discipline to maintain a good bankroll. No, anyone cannot just deposit money online and expect to make a killing. Those making a killing are students of the game who possess all the traits needed to win at online poker. I believe I am in that group. If you feel you are the same, best of luck to you. But be careful, as there are plenty of guys like me, just waiting to take your money. If you play skillfully enough and be patient, online poker is an ATM machine. Poker players fall into 2 categories, 95% of them are losing money, which fuels the 5% who are winning. Just like anything else, it's survival of the fittest, the cream will rise to the top. Until tomorrow, good luck.
