My New Concealer and My Mother's Eyes

Everyone who sees us together always says we looked alike and my mom always corrects them. "No, she really looks like her father. My other daughter looks a lot like me." It's true. There are pictures of my father in his twenties and the face looking out is mine. But I have her eyes. And with her eyes come the bags.

Then last week I discovered the MOST AMAZING CONCEALER. I'd heard about it but when celebrities say something is amazing...well really. I decided to let that scary commissioned makeup salesperson do her thing. It's a two step process and quite frankly, I don't use the color corrector and probably shouldn't have bought it but it was an amazing transformation. Suddenly I had the flat cheekbones I'd sought all my life. Bobby Brown Concealer is all it is reported to be.

After living in Colorado for 18 years I went from the land of no-makeup to Dallas, the land of no-makeup-is-too-much. This concealer allows for a middle ground. Concealer on but nothing else: no makeup look but better than you really look. Concealer on with foundation: your best look ever because it really covers those little scars that nothing else has.

So a little concealer is one of those things we can embrace and feel good about. They are, after all, my mother's eyes. She could have given me her teeth. That's what my sister got.
